FILMIC 2013

Film + Music = Filmic 2013

Filmic is Bristol’s very own festival dedicated to the various intersections of music and film, jointly conceived and curated by Phil Johnson and Watershed’s Mark Cosgrove. Intended to mix the work of locally-based artists with that of major international figures, Filmic hits the big-time for this, its second year, with performances by the world famous Philip Glass, composer/performer/producer and PJ Harvey-associate John Parish, Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow and BBC ‘Life of….’ composer Ben Salisbury with ‘Drokk’, and the Smith Quartet playing the complete Philip Glass quartets, including the ravishingly filmic ‘Mishima’. And that’s just the musical menu. Check Watershed’s website (watershed.co.uk) for regular updates on the programme of films, talks and special events.

Events at Watershed
The focus in March will be on composer, producer, artist and collaborator John Parish, perhaps most well known for his acclaimed work with PJ Harvey, during April we’ll take a close look at Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory and May’s spotlight will be on Philip Glass, who is quite possibly the most legendary composer of our time.

Immerse yourself in boutique live music and film happenings across both venues and big screen Sunday brunch experiences curated by some of our guests throughout Filmic. There will also be appearances from the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Douglas Hart and other special guests.
