Positive Psychology Responses to Depression
The Bristol Happiness Lectures 2010 With Positive Psychologist Miriam Akhtar, GP / Broadcaster Dr Phil Hammond and Addictions Specialist Dr Chris Johnstone. One in two people are likely to suffer depression at some point in their lives and £400 million is spent each year on anti-depressants. Yet Positive Psychology, the scientific study of human thriving, has identified self-help interventions that increase resilience in ways that both prevent and treat depression. In this fifth annual Bristol Happiness Lecture, Miriam Akhtar, one of Britain's pioneering positive psychologists, Dr Phil Hammond, medical doctor, writer, broadcaster and noted comedian and commentator on health issues (Have I Got News For You, The News Quiz), and Dr Chris Johnstone, addictions specialist, present an informative and enjoyable evening of lectures focusing on effective self-help approaches to strengthening positive mood and wellbeing.
