An intimate, beautifully put-together evening blending evocative poems by G K Chesterton, Shakespeare, Yeats and others with exquisite songs and music ranging from traditional folk ballads to Gershwin and Edith Piaf, 'Siren Songs' explores the themes of women and birds as eternal symbols for freedom, beauty, flight and captivity. Weaving compelling readings by actor John Telfer (Royal National Theatre, 'Bergerac', 'The Archers') with electrifying pianism by Howard Moody (Sarum Orchestra), angelic singing by soprano Lorna Anderson (Les Arts Florissants, The Sixteen) and rich, multi-layered visuals created in real time by video artist Kathy Hinde (Arnolfini, Royal Opera House) and painter Laura Cramer, 'Siren Songs' is a wonderful evening of vivid cabaret.
