Piano Sonatas by Scarlatti and John Cage
Baroque and avant-garde music goes head to head in this dynamic display, featuring one pianist and two pianos. The programme, which Greilsammer first performed in 2009 and later released on album, sees the pianist switch between Scarlatti’s Sonatas and John Cage’s own Sonatas and Interludes. The Cage, performed on a prepared piano – think elastic bands, screws and other fixings, creates a dazzling contrast to the more even tempered Scarlatti. A memorable night.
7.30pm – 8pm
