A feast of beautiful choral music for Valentine’s Day on the theme of love. Sensuous motets with words from the Song of Songs by Victoria and Palestrina are contrasted with ravishing choral pieces by Lauridsen, Rütti, Whitacre and Daniel-Lesur together with the world première of a set of love songs by David Bednall, and exquisite music for cello and piano. The programme is completed by arrangements of folk songs of love won and lost, along with hot and steamy Latin American dance-inspired pieces for choir and cello by Piazzolla. Why not treat a loved one to some champagne and chocolate cake in the interval?
