Haydn Symphony No 104 in D London
Mozart Violin Concerto No 3 in G
Beethoven Triple Concerto
When the period instruments of the OAE combine with a trio of the world’s finest soloists you should expect nothing less than a perfectly balanced, glorious sound – and when these same musicians bring their talents to bear on masterpieces by three of the greatest composers of all time you also know to expect music making not only of the highest, but also the most exhilarating order.
Haydn’s London Symphony provides a blazing opening to the concert, conjuring as it does all the bustling energy of this 18th century metropolis. Isabelle Faust, as soloist and director for Mozart’s Violin Concerto, illuminates both its playful and darker undertones, but it is Beethoven’s Triple Concerto that crowns the evening, drawing intense and revelatory playing from the orchestra and these three exceptional solo artists.
‘When this music is played by the OAE light doesn’t just dawn, it dazzles.’ The Telegraph
