Opus 1 Piano Trio

Sara Bitlloch violin
Amy Norrington cello
Daniel Tong piano

Beethoven Piano Trio in D Major Op 70 No 1 Ghost
Schumann Piano Trio No 1 in D minor Op 63

A St George’s debut for the newly formed piano trio Opus 1, which weaves the finely calibrated pianism of Daniel Tong with the superbly imaginative violin of Sara Bitlloch (leader of the exceptional BBC New Generation Artists, the Elias String Quartet) and finessed cello of Amy Norrington (a member of the magnificent Oxalys ensemble).

This astonishingly successful partnership is brought to Beethoven’s justly famous ‘Ghost’ Trio and Schummans outstanding Piano Trio, considered by many as his finest chamber work after the Piano Quintet.

‘[Sara Bitlloch] has a soaring confidence, dazzling high register and a rhythmic energy which brings Menuhin’s playing to mind.’ The Sunday Times

‘Tong['s] cultured pianism affords unqualified pleasure throughout.’ Gramophone
