We are delighted to announce that The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has chosen to support an exciting new education project which we will be launching in the Spring in partnership with New Music in the South West (NMSW).
Our Young Composers Academy is a new initiative designed to support and nurture the development of promising young composers aged 14-18 from across the South West. Recruitment will begin this autumn as we invite students from schools and colleges all over the region to participate in a series of composer-led workshops and professional performance opportunities taking place throughout 2016.
The initiative is a three year, rolling programme which will offer the most promising and committed students the opportunity to progress each year, working on their music writing skills and compositional style with support and guidance from professional composers and musicians, with the chance to win one of several professional commissions as St George’s ‘Young Composer in Residence’ at the end of year three.
We are thrilled to be working in partnership with the team at NMSW, and are very grateful to the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, whose generous support has enabled us to launch this wonderful project which will support the wealth of young music writing talent out there in the South West!
Details on how to participate will be announced on the website shortly.
