STAFF and volunteers at St George’s Bristol are celebrating after winning Bristol Business Awards ‘Leisure and Tourism Business of the Year 2018’.

The concert hall and independent music venue, just off Park Street, is best know for its world-class classical, jazz, folk and world music, and spoken word events.

St George’s, a registered charity which also generates income through corporate and private venue hire, is at the final stage of an ambitious and bold £6.3million extension programme.

The ‘Building a Sound Future’ project is designed to improve the visitor experience for audience members, artists and visitors. A pavilion-style extension includes multi-purpose performance and education spaces and a café bar – both available for venue hire – as well as step-free access and improved landscaped gardens.

St George’s relaunches as a creative space for music and ideas for the new autumn season in September.

Commercial Director for the award organisers, Trinity Mirror, Sarah Pullen commented: “We had more than 100 incredible entries this year. The standard was very high and some great business didn’t make the cut. Our finalists reflect the strength in depth of Bristol businesses.”
