Mitsuko Uchida Piano
Schubert Impromptu No 1 from Four Impromptus D899
Webern Variations for Piano
Schubert Four Impromptus D935
Following a period of unbearable silence, we finally mark the reopening of St George’s with something very special indeed: a recital by Mitsuko Uchida.
A sequence of fleeting, tightly packed miniatures unfold before us, allowing all kinds of emotions to take flight. Composed in the final year of his life, Schubert’s Impromptus take us backwards and forwards, evoking reflection, sadness, reconciliation and hope. This is music that plays with your moods, making you want to dance, to laugh, to cry and to throw your arms up at the sheer wonder of it all!
There will be two recitals, each running for approximately 60-70 minutes without interval.
Enjoy delicious pre-concert drinks and nibbles ahead of the evening’s concert. Choose from a selection of house drinks on arrival accompanied by a board of bread, olives and dips (all vegetarian).
