Chris Smither

Part of Spring-Summer 2023 Big Names

This event has passed.

This event has been re-scheduled. Our Box Office team has been in touch directly with ticketholders. All tickets remain valid for the new date.

Honing his synthesis of folk and blues for over 50 years, Chris Smither’s profound songwriting, singular guitar sound and world-weary vocals – lying somewhere between Leonard Cohen and Leon Redbone – mark him out as a true original.

His music draws deeply from the blues and American folk music, but also modern poets and humanist philosophers, and he continues to earn accolades from the critics. His songs have appeared in films and TV shows and been covered by Bonnie Raitt, John Mayall, Emmylou Harris and Diana Krall, among others. Support provided by Chris’s friend, the excellent songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zak Trojano.

“With a weary, well-travelled voice and a serenely intricate finger-picking style, Mr. Smither turns the blues into songs that accept hard-won lessons and try to make peace with fate.” New York Times
