Our Gin Garden Sessions are back!

During the pandemic, we moved our summertime gigs outside into our beautiful gardens – and we liked it so much that we’re back for more. Our Gin Garden returns in partnership with 6 O’Clock Gin, and across June and July, we’re welcoming brilliant local artists for our free weekend afternoon sessions. You don’t need a ticket – just come along, order one of our delicious summer drinks, and soak up the music. If the weather isn’t on our side, we’ll relocate into our Café Bar instead.

This week’s session is with Jonny Bruce.

Bristol based Jonny Bruce is one of the most in demand trumpet players on the scene today. Working as both a soloist and a lead player in a variety of musical contexts, Jonny has received much critical acclaim for his fiery trumpet work.

From Bobby Shew, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis to Kelis and Illa J, his trumpet has seen him perform at venues and festivals across the world with many greats from a variety of genres. Many will have seen him as a featured soloist with Moscow Drug Club, who launched their album at St George’s in 2019 as part of the Bristol International Jazz and Blues Festival. He is also the co-bandleader, along with Denny Ilett, of the Bruce/Ilett Big Band, and the Musical Director of the Bristol Community Big Band.

This afternoon Jonny explores the jazz standards with acclaimed local pianist Guy Shotton.
