This is the perfect appetiser for St George’s Keyboard Festival, running from 1-8 November. And, pursuing the food analogy, it’s an ideal ‘taster menu’ too for the wide range of keyboard instruments that our Keyboard Festival celebrates. With the venue set up in our more relaxed ‘Mixtape’ layout – featuring performances from two alternating stages and the audience able to sit, stand or lie-down – this special Keyboard Mixtape will be a unique opportunity to compare and contrast all things Keyboard, from the plucked renaissance Virginals to the 1970s analogue synthesizer. Repertoire will range from Byrd, Bach and Scarlatti from Sophie Yates to improvised synth explorations from Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory and friends; core classical favourites and transcriptions of Great American Songbook numbers from Tom Poster on one Steinway concert grand to performances of piano rolls by the world’s leading Player Piano expert, Rex Lawson.
