“You have a really special venue in your midst, so please give it your support.”
Nicola Benedetti, Violinist
Will you help us keep the music playing?
We’re on a mission to bring the joy of live performance to everyone.
In ‘normal’ times over 100,000 people enjoy our concerts and events every year; over 20,000 people experience the arts in their schools and communities through our investment programmes. Our work takes the name of Bristol around the world through recordings, broadcasts and live streaming. With our audiences and artistic partners, we’ve been committed to developing and sustaining the careers of performers and creatives internationally for nearly five decades.
To achieve all this, we’re an independent registered charity run by a supportive board of volunteer Trustees, and we are partially funded by you through annual grants from Bristol City Council and Arts Council England. But with running costs of around £1 million, our shortfall in normal times can exceed £300,000 annually.
But these aren’t normal times, and your support is more important than ever.

Ways you can Support Us
“St George’s inspires everyone to enjoy music and take part in its creation…I know that the success of this venue is in no small part due to the contribution of its annual donors. Please support this special place.”
Laura van der Heijden, Cellist

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on music venues across the country. St George’s Bristol is no different. We closed the doors in March 2020 and cancelled everything. We lost 94% of our income overnight. Tentatively we’re opening up now, and the messages of thanks we’ve received have been inspiring.
“A magical evening – words fail me! Thank you for bringing back live music at St George’s.”
Government funding for culture has kept us going but can’t last forever. The road ahead is full of uncertainty, but with your help, we can ensure the music doesn’t stop.
We would like to thank all of our supporters, and in particular those individuals who contribute through our regular giving programmes or by leaving a legacy to St George’s. They provide a commitment that is so vital to our sustainability and success.
