Festival of Voice
June 2022
“Singing is like a celebration of oxygen” – Björk
In June 2022, St George’s presents its inaugural Festival of Voice – a month-long celebration of the power, beauty and universality of the human voice. We’ll be bringing together internationally renowned artists with grass-roots choirs anchored in their local communities, and everything in between. We’re exploring what the voice can do and a celebration of what singing can help us all be and achieve, creating something together to enjoy. Everyone is welcome to come along and take part!

Join our Flashmob!
On SUNDAY 5 JUNE join us to create a flashmob in Bristol’s city centre, singing Handel’s Hallelujah! Chorus
We’re celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee and kicking off our Festival of Voice.
Anyone is welcome to join, whether you’re an experienced singer or just sing in the shower – just bring yourselves and a sense of fun to this once-only special event!
Singing is a universal activity, which exists in all cultures and genres across the world. Bristol is a cosmopolitan city, bursting with cultural activity and the hum of 91 languages, with so many different types of choirs and singing groups. What better way to bring us all together through song?
For our first ever Festival of Voice, we’ll be continuously announcing new events. Alongside a thrilling programme of live music from across many different genres, there will be a series of special insights with experts exploring different aspects of song. We’ll look at well-being and the positive impact of singing on our health, as well as virtual choirs and singing in a digital age – with more events to be announced.

Volunteering
We are looking for a team of volunteers to help us on event days throughout June, to welcome the public to our events and also to help promote the joys of singing and the wider festival programme. This is a perfect opportunity to meet new people, share your love of singing with a wider audience and support your local music charity!
If you’re interested please sign up via the form below. No previous volunteering experience necessary, we’re just looking for people who love singing!
The schedule of shifts will be circulated by 22 May. We ask you to commit to a minimum of 3 shifts, and a festival briefing will take place on Thursday 26 May, 6pm at St George’s Bristol.
