St George’s Education & Learning Programme funds and manages the Cosmos Children’s Community Choir of South Bristol, an initiative we began back in 2009. Since then, over 150 young people aged 8 – 13 from a range of schools in the area have benefited from the ‘Cosmos experience’, growing in confidence and singing ability through weekly rehearsals led by the choir’s inspirational musical director Mark Lawrence, assisted by the choir’s co-ordinator Caitlin Callahan and Liz Muir.

Performance opportunities have included regular appearances at St George’s, concerts in the Colston Hall foyer, at the Harbourside, at Clifton College and, closer to home, at Merchants’ Academy and in local primary schools. Cosmos is also a regular recording choir for Faber Music and the Sing Up SongBank.
This past Christmas 2015, we were featured on BBC Points West, singing a Christmas favourite. You can see and hear the talent of our singers below in this video provided by the BBC archive:
We are delighted this year to be working with a focus on three primary schools – Oasis Academy Connaught, Greenfield E-Act Academy and Knowle Park Primary. The choir will be held at Knowle Park this year, with children from all three schools (and all others in the region) invited to be part of the choir at all times. We would like to thank Knowle Park for their commitment to this project.
For further information, including details on how to enrol your child in Cosmos Choir (no fees, it’s all on us!), please contact the choir coordinator Caitlin Callahan at firstname.lastname@example.org

It’s such a great project, my son and daughter have got so much out of it. My son in particular has increased his confidence as a result of going and takes pride in singing. All the best for the summer break. Best wishes.”
