Steph Allison is our very talented wedding co-ordinator here at St Georges. Here she tells us passionately about her role and how she aims to make your special day one of a kind.
St George’s is such a unique and flexible venue that is still a bit of a hidden gem. Many visitors are amazed at the scale of the hall and the amount of green space found right in the heart of the city centre. I am currently enjoying my second year as wedding coordinator at St George’s Bristol and it’s a role that works well alongside planning work for clients of my own business, Sweet & Pretty Weddings and Events.
My role is to bring my wedding expertise to the events team and I do this by offering email support to couples in the planning stages and by meeting with couples a few weeks before the wedding to make a very thorough running order for the day. I also offer advice on ways to make the day run smoothly and how to avoid any potential pitfalls. My detailed checklist is given to the events team, house staff and the catering team and ensures everyone has all of the key information and timings.
On the day I’m on site from 9am setting up the tables in the hall and crypt bar, ensuring all of the changes needed to transform St George’s from concert venue to wedding venue are in place and welcoming wedding suppliers such as florists and bands. Throughout the day I liaise with the caterers, bar team and house staff to ensure the wedding runs smoothly and I also assist guests and ensure I’m there for the couple should they need anything.
