In her last concert in Bristol before heading off to Bali to study the gamelan more deeply, Harriet Riley, in collaboration with Christopher Hull and the Adnya Suara angklung ensemble, explores the influence of the gamelan in Bristol, and Western music more generally.

Beat Frequencies takes you on a journey through traditional gamelan music and its cross-pollination into Western percussion. Featuring standard repertoire from the Balinese canon, contemporary works by Steve Reich and Ann Southam, original music, and a guest performance by the Adnya Suara angklung ensemble (directed by Isis Wolflight), this is a totally unique opportunity to make a sonic voyage that connects two contrasting archipelagos: the British Isles and Indonesia.
