Bristol Folk Festival

This event has passed.

The Saturday of Bristol Folk Festival, bringing old-time folk and blistering Americana to St George’s.

Medicine Creek

Medicine Creek play a unique whisky-soaked brand of bluegrass and Americana. Featuring lead vocalist Nuala Honan, the band specialise in rootsy bluegrass and alt-country, reinventing dark tales of murder and mayhem from frontier times with gospel-flavoured harmonies and folk fiddle. The band have gained a cult following for their adrenaline-fuelled live act, and have graced the stages of Glastonbury, Green Man and Shambala.
“Beautifully rendered old-time Americana” – Venue Magazine
“An artist we’re very excited about” – Lauren Laverne on Nuala Honan (BBC 6 Music)

Granny’s Attic

Granny’s Attic combine exceptional musicianship with boundless energy. The dynamic trio comprise Cohen Braithwaite Kilcoyne (concertina / melodeon / vocals), George Sansome (guitar / vocals) and Lewis Wood (violin / vocals). Inspired by the folk tradition, Granny’s Attic skilfully deliver old tunes with verve and their own inimitable style. Their lively performances have captured audiences everywhere from Cambridge Folk Festival to Cecil Sharp House.

Good Habits

Globe trotting story-tellers, Good Habits are singer-cellist Bonnie Schwarz and accordionist Pete Shaw. Together the duo create folk-ish musical tales, coupling captivating lyrics with brisk instrumental virtuosity. Winners of the Purbeck Folk Rising Award 2020, the duo return safely to the UK from New Zealand, where they were stranded during pandemic. A happy exile, Good Habits found themselves playing with the country’s top acts including Nadia Reid, Ria Hall and Lost Tribe Aotearoa, and on the stages of New Zealand’s largest festivals, including CubaDupa and TSB Festival of Lights.
