Bill Frisell Trio | St George's Bristol

Bill Frisell Trio

This event has passed.

One of the greatest living jazz guitarists meets the famed St George’s acoustic in what promises to be an unmissable summer concert.

Bill Frisell Guitar
Thomas Morgan Bass
Rudy Royston Drums

Tonight Frisell brings his trio, whose implicit musical understanding (described as “psychically empathic” by John Fordham) will allow for the most nimble, conversational and spontaneous of on-stage collaborations. They’ll delve into the sizable ouevre of Frisell compositions, as well as the popular, folk and standard songs that they enjoy interpreting on an ongoing basis. This is improvisation on another level – musicians who flow where the music takes them.

This concert has been produced in partnership with Stoney Lane Live and will be followed by a performance by Stoney Lane Records recording artist Steve Banks Trio at 10pm in the café bar.

“Frisell, Royston and Morgan revel in the tight but loose interplay that is a hallmark of the best groups, plying a course as deeply lyrical as it is adventurous. Feels like the beginning of a great adventure.”
