Bristol Film Festival is delighted to announce a unique event at St George’s Bristol, celebrating 40 years of the English-language version of Les Misérables with a screening of the Oscar-winning film adaptation. This epic treatment of the beloved musical, with an all-star cast led by Hugh Jackman, is a big screen experience that’s not to be missed.

This screening is presented in collaboration with BLOC Productions, Bristol’s Light Operatic society, who are one of only eleven such groups to be granted permission to stage a production at Bristol Hippodrome in August 2025.

The evening will be introduced by Festival Director Owen Franklin, and there will be an unmissable talk from one of BLOC’s directors. The film will be accompanied by live music for key musical numbers, bringing the most memorable moments to life, with several cast members from the production will be performing a medley of songs from the shows. You’ll hear from Jean Val Jean, Fantine and the Thenardiers!

Join us for an unforgettable evening in one of Bristol’s premier music venues – whether you’re a longstanding fan or discovering the magic of Les Misérables for the first time, it will be a spectacular occasion and an uplifting way to start the year.
