Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra

Modality from the East

Part of Just Announced

This event has passed.

An exhilarating programme exploring music inspired by folk, and highlighting the rich exoticism of Eastern Europe.

This culminates with a performance of Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, arguably one of the greatest achievements of the twentieth century. Bartók draws from a vast array of traditional musical inspirations, with orchestration that vividly captures diverse styles and colours. True to its title as a ‘concerto’ for orchestra rather than a ‘symphony,’ it offers a balanced distribution of melodies, presenting significant challenges for all.
