Brook Tate Exhibition
This event has passed.
Brook Tate is a Bristol based painter, writer and musician, working across mediums and styles and always in response to personal experiences.
He is recognised for his photo-realistic decorative portraiture, but has been exploring expressive figurative work in the last few years, focusing heavily on homosexual intimacy and the male body. His models are either close friends or strangers he passes in the street, captured in vibrant colour schemes and compositions.
Brook will also be sharing a montage of musical scenes from his original shows and showing some of his hand made puppets – featuring Gayle the Whale (the star of Birthmarked at the Bristol Old Vic) and a much loved giraffe…called Martha.
St George’s are delighted to be hosting an exhibition of Brook’s work in anticipation of his show with us on the 7 December; Brook Tate’s Menagerie. Come and visit the pop-up gallery to get a glimpse into the creative world that will be coming to our stage, through a performance of soul, folk, musical theatre, drag and live illustration.
