1.30-3.30pm – Vocal Improvisation with Dali de St Paul
The voice is an instrument. Through playing with different improvisation techniques, we will explore the potential of the voice, and its interaction with other voices in the context of improvisation.
Described as having a ‘raw vocal style’, Dali St Paul is a prolific collaborator and a prominent figure in Bristol’s improv scene who likes to explore musical dialogues with musicians across different genres. Her project EP64 has involved a wide range of musicians and visual artists. 64 concerts over 6 years.
4-6pm – mr_hopkinson’s computer
Experiments in synthetic singing and artificial emotion through playful presentation of the computer as performer. This will be a demonstration and show and tell of the performance and the techniques used to realise it, using what is now vintage digital computers and software.
mr_hopkinson’s computer is a project by artist David Hopkinson, that used synthetic cover versions of alt pop classics, and toured extensively throughout the 2000’s, with regular national and international radio play.
