Bach’s famous joyful ‘wedding’ cantata is followed by a rare performance of the jubilant Dixit Dominus by Marianna Martines, a singer, keyboard player and the leading female composer of the period in Europe. Scarlatti’s St Cecilia Mass for choir and string orchestra is a virtuosic and colourful work full of Italian fervour and passion, with fast choruses and sparkling solo passages. A concert full of lively and energetic feel-good music from around Europe.
