Gin Swing: Sisters of Swing & Adam Stokes Trio

Part of Gin Swing Nature Reconnect

This event has passed.

The Sisters of Swing have been going strong for almost 13 years and during that time have grown in numbers and experience. The band, which is made up entirely of women, has a wide repertoire featuring big band vocal and instrumental jazz and swing standards from the 1930’s ranging through to the 1950’s, and even some popular tunes from the 60’s and 70’s – guaranteed to get you on your feet!

The band features a full complement of trombones and trumpets and a large number of woodwind players, all driven along by an energetic rhythm section. On top of that they have the powerful vocals of Julie Patchouli (JP) singing all your favourites from Ella through to Nina Simone – and even Bette Midler. All in all, a big, big sound is guaranteed!

Adam Stokes Trio

Adam Stokes is an up-and-coming Guitarist blending Jim Hall Style melodic development with Thelonious Monk’s angular dissonances, he is known on the Bristol scene as the host of the Stag and Hounds Jam session where he has played with the who’s who of Bristol Jazz.

Adam Stokes Trio 3.15pm
Sisters of Swing 4.30pm

The events will be outside with limited seating so we would recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment!
