Celebrated harpsichordist, organist and choir director Malcolm Archer returns to the festival with a performance of Bach’s universally popular set of variations on a theme – the ‘Goldbergs’. Widely regarded as the most ambitious work ever written for solo harpsichord, the variations are wonderfully diverse combining fiendishly difficult passages with still moments of tender beauty.
