“Kolesnikov makes Bach’s Variations soar as if new.”
***** Erica Jeal, The Guardian

There is a new star in the classical music firmament, an artist whose emotional intelligence and understated virtuosity has left audiences and critics breathless, and whose performances have been lauded as eloquent, passionate and miraculous.

Pavel Kolesnikov is a London based, Siberian born pianist who, for his St George’s debut, has chosen to perform a timeless masterpiece and landmark of Baroque keyboard music, Bach’s astonishing Goldberg Variations. His recently released recording of the Goldbergs has drawn truly outstanding reviews, placing this recital firmly in the territory of ‘not to be missed’.

“… gentle pianism that draws you effortlessly inside the music and Bach’s imagination … natural, logical, simply expressed and beautifully revealed in all its intimate complexity … exquisitely voiced by Kolesnikov and a luminous recording.’ BBC Record Review

“[Kolesnikov’s] playing has the joy and freshness of a new encounter … his approach here is magisterial, nearing the sublime …” The Sunday Times
