Join renowned bird expert Ed Drewitt for a walk from St George’s Bristol up to Brandon Hill Park to explore migrating birds.
October is a brilliant time for spotting small birds migrating over Bristol, especially in the morning; many are heading south to warmer places in western and central Africa while others are arriving here from northern Europe to spend the winter here. On this walk Ed will be looking and listening for birds heading over Brandon Hill on migration, including wagtails, finches, pipits and thrushes such as redwings. There may still be summer birds such as blackcaps and chiffchaffs skulking in the bushes and perhaps the odd late swallow overhead. During our walk Ed will explain more about what, why and how birds are migrating over Bristol in the autumn and how you can watch and listen for it happening over your own homes.
Places for this are limited due to the need to keep the group size small. The walk is NOT included as part of the ticket for the talk at 10.15am.
