Join a special fiddle workshop with Sam Sweeney – ‘Britain’s Premier Fiddler’ (Songlines) – as part of Bristol Folk Festival.

Join Sam in the Glass Studio to explore ways to liberate your tune playing and breathe life into your music! You’ll learn tools and techniques from one of England’s finest traditional fiddle players.

Sam is widely regarded as the finest fiddle player of his generation. A member of Bellowhead and winner of Musician of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (2015).

As the inaugural director of the National Youth Folk Ensemble, Sam has long been interested in developing musicians, and is an experienced workshop leader.

This is a fiddle-oriented workshop but other melody players are welcome. We recommend this workshop for people with some experience of playing traditional music.

‘The fiddler with the Midas touch” The Guardian

“Sweeney’s playing is an outstanding & deeply moving experience. *****” Songlines
