The Brodsky Quartet & Sir Willard White

Part of Festival of Voice

This event has passed.

This wonderful collaboration pays homage to the working relationship between the Hollywood Quartet and Frank Sinatra in the 1950s which resulted in the classic album Close to You. The programme has a strong American theme with Barber’s hauntingly beautiful Dover Beach, songs by Copland, Gershwin, Kern, and Weill, interspersed with a European twist from Britten, Ravel and Massenet.

Copland (arr P.Cassidy) Hoedown

Gershwin (arr P.Cassidy) Porgy and Bess (excerpts)

Trad.arr Britten/(arr P.Cassidy) The Ash Grove; The Foggy Dew
