Wild Words
All Creatures Great and Small
This event has passed.
Join storyteller Michael Loader, multi-instrumentalist Fiona Barrow and Afro-Brazilian music master Jon Hardeman for an afternoon of animal-inspired tales, sumptuous music-making and participative percussion-a-plenty!
A new star is born in darkness … gravity pulls dust and rocks are formed into a boiling ball of heat. Meteoric storms bring the elements of life and Earth is created. Over time plants flourish, animals emerge and finally the Two Legged Ones appear. Through a shared language the Animals taught their Two Legged little brothers and sisters how to survive – by digging, making, building and taking – and if they ever needed help they could ask the Forever Tree.
All was well until the Two Legged Ones felt ’not as good as’. “They can fly, jump, run and swim much better than us!” and so to make up for their limitations the Two Legged Ones simply did more of what they could do – dig, make, build and take. “We’re much cleverer than the Animals because of our big brains” they said and demanded to be called Big Brother and Big Sister and when their heads, not intelligence, swelled in size the monsters appeared to dig, make, build and take more and more and competition was born …
