This is the biggest concert of the year for the Bristol University Music Society. It features our chamber orchestra and chamber choir, conducted by Charlie Kay and Mayuri Swaminathan, two music students at the University of Bristol. This year, they will be joining together to perform Verdi’s Requiem.

Programme

Smith Subida
Liszt Totentanz
Moss The Dragonfly
Verdi Requiem

Sammy Li Piano

Verdi’s Requiem sets the traditional text of the funeral mass for soloists, double choir and orchestra, and forms the centrepiece of this concert. Described by some as a “fire and brimstone” requiem, the work as a whole is one of the most frequently performed choral works. This concert will also include two student compositions, one orchestral work and one choral work, as well as a performance from the winner of the chamber orchestra concerto competition.
