Part of Artists in our Midst

This event has passed.

Join us for a concert of music inspired by all the countries of the British Isles. We set out from the rather bleak Suffolk coast with Britten’s interludes evoking the dark atmosphere of Peter Grimes.

From there to Wales for a piece inspired by the Mabinogion; followed by a rhapsody based on familiar Welsh folk tunes. We travel to Ireland for another familiar melody before crossing to Scotland, the inspiration for two of Mendelssohn’s best loved compositions, including this glorious symphony.

Programme

Britten Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes
Owen Threnody for the Passing of Brangwen
German Welsh Rhapsody
Grainger Irish Tune from County Derry
Mendelssohn Symphony no 3 in A minor Op 56, Scottish
