Celestial light, refracted in the image of the planets turning and returning in space, is the inspiration for this exquisite programme by the world renowned Tallis Scholars on their long-awaited return to St George’s.

From writing which turns on itself (the Josquin and Palestrina), to music scored luminously high (the White and Taverner), to pieces which use light in their titles (the Tallis and Fayrfax), to Nico Muhly’s Rough Notes, written for the Tallis Scholars in 2018, which refers to the night sky in the Antarctic. According to Pythagoras, the turning of the planets generated a kind of beautiful and harmonious mathematical music.
Lose yourself in the radiant wonder of the spheres, hymned in this sequence of beautiful pieces.
“The ensemble has set a standard so high that a greater level of musical perfection is simply not conceivable” Linda Holt, *****, Bachtrack
