Warning: seriously sublime music. Norway’s star pianist and composer Tord Gustavsen returns to St George’s with a new album and a new trio, with bassist Sigurd Hole joining regular drummer Jarle Vespestad. The forthcoming release in his evolving career with ECM Records – a series which must count as one of the greatest jazz sequences of our age – represents a further refinement of Gustavsen’s ‘Nordic blues’, with new compositions referencing both ancient Nordic hymn-melodies and the works of J.S.Bach.
