Multi-award winner, Franco-Belgian pianist Antoine Préat is being acclaimed for his distinctive voice and strong musical convictions. He studied in France and the UK and has since established a flourishing career performing at some of the most prestigious venues in Europe.
He says of the programme he’ll be playing today: “Bound by a shared appreciation for life’s tragic nature, as well as a similar sense of humour and aesthetic, Haydn and Prokofiev converge in this program, which is filled with lyricism, wit and deep emotion. Haydn’s Sonata in B minor ushers us into an acceptance of fate, gently preparing us for the heart of the performance: Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, a selection of ten pieces that take us through the innocence of childhood, the passion of love, and the depths of despair, reminding us that not every story ends well. Schumann’s Arabeske offers a fleeting but poignant moment of light, a delicate glimmer of hope amidst the storm.”
