The Astatine Trio, formed at the Royal College of Music in 2021, are a young but remarkably seasoned triumvirate of musicians taking the piano trio format in new directions.

They won First Prize at the 2022 Senior Intercollegiate Piano Trio Competition as the youngest entrants, with an average age of 18. They went on to win the First Prize and Luigi Boccherini Prize at the International Virtuoso & Belcanto Chamber Competition in Italy in July 2022. They have been mentored by Adrian Brendel and the Gould Trio, amongst others, and have already performed in many prestigious venues in the UK and abroad.
This is the third of three BBC New Generation Artist lunchtime concerts this season, and will be recorded for BBC Radio 3. The scheme helps to support young musicians on the threshold of an international career to reach the next stage of their development.
