Lunchtime Jazz: Satori

Part of Lunchtime Concerts

This event has passed.

Satori is an exciting and dynamic ensemble engaged in limitless possibility and collaborative free-play, with a focus on beautiful melodies and intricate rhythms.

With 3 albums under their belt as a sax/bass/drums trio, the addition of pianist Alcyona Mick for the 2024 release of Weatherwards allows Josephine to stretch her compositional vision further, creating a colourful and complex harmonic palette.

Inspired by her roots in the Shetland Islands, Josephine’s latest work is a fascinating blend of jazz and folk influences that evokes the dramatic landscape and interconnection of Shetland sea, land, sky, and ever-present wind.

“The powerful combination of fearless free improvisation and melodic empathy from these gifted players creates a powerful and timely statement.” Jazz in Europe Magazine
