Bristol New Music / Filmic 2016

Commissioned by Opera North, this landmark sound + vision project features Norwegian trumpeter/soundscaper Arve Henriksen and his long-term musical collaborators Eivind Aarset (guitar) and Jan Bang (electronics) as they perform to a film by the video artist Anastasia Isachsen. Inspired by religious buildings and ruins, Henriksen’s 2013 album Places of Worship – for many critics his most perfect statement thus far in a career of continual wonders – has in turn served as the inspiration for Isachsen’s beautiful and evocative visuals, expressly designed for a setting such as this.
