Plus talk by Dizraeli on the ‘Art of Words’
Performance poetry like you’ve never heard (or seen) before, UnFOLD is an acclaimed live concept led by some of Britain’s most vital young poets in collaboration with London String Collective, percussionists and visual artists. National Slam Champion Solomon OB, Kieron Rennie (Barbican Young Poets resident), and rising star Sophia Thakur step into the space between language, music and illustration and embark on a spellbinding journey of words that has headlined at Brighton Festival and London’s Roundhouse.
Tonight’s show opens with an exclusive talk by Bristol-born rapper, poet, multi-instrumentalist and occasional singer MC Dizraeli, one of the most innovative lyricists and live performers in the UK. A very special guest for this exclusive talk, this latest edition of Lyrix Organix’s ‘Art of Words’ will see Dizraeli talk frankly about his approach to poetry, music and the creative process – inspired by his vital new album ‘Unmaster’ that explores mental health.
The poise of a young Gil Scott Heron mixed with Jean-Michel Basquiat – Kieron’s is making waves as an exhilirating spoken word artist strongly influenced by visual art. A Barbican Young Poets resident, his languid poetry provides social commentary tackling subjects from gang culture to male identity and depression. Since joining UnFold he has blossomed into a confident and boundary-pushing performer about to enter his prime.
